Ambulance for Making Love combines the esthetics of the handwritten tract with a debased form of automotive tuning to promote the prototype of an ambulance intended for lovemaking and designed to diffuse good vibrations throughout the city.
The windows of a white Fiat Panda are covered over with the pink pages of an Italian newspaper and yellow pages saturated with black marker text that vaunt the virtues of this vehicle. The idea for the vehicle appeared to me as a vision when an ambulance siren invaded the sonic space of the Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations” playing on my stereo. The tract speaks of love, life, death and the unrealized utopias of the sixities.
