Double Vision
6 billboards 4099 x 3050mm installed on Aristide Briand Street, Rennes from 02/01/2025 - 01/04/2025 for the 4x3 project by Lendroit éditions.

These are familiar, almost hackneyed images that Hilary Galbreaith presents in incongruous, baroque juxtapositions. Glued to old postcards of sublime landscapes domesticated by mass tourism are images hastily cut out, even torn, from magazines of the last century. A recycled iconography of truncated, consumed, controlled bodies, human or non-human, biological, political or mythological, masks, as though permanently distancing, this world of blue sky, turquoise sea, flowery scrubland or idyllic moorland, once wild and romantic, now toxic, cracked and decomposing. With humor and bite, Hilary Galbreaith invites us to become aware of the coexistence of layers of reality that violently collide, leaving us powerless in the face of a loss of meaning.

THE 4X3 PROJECT
4X3 is an artistic project by Lendroit éditions. 4X3 features six large-format works on three panels installed on public property. The public can thus discover the work of contemporary artists all year round, 7 days a week, in the open air. 4X3 was inaugurated in September 2019.
PARTICIPATORY BUDGET
This is part of the city’s budget used to finance projects proposed by residents. The 4x3 panels were produced and installed as part of Rennes’ participatory budget. The operating budget and 4x3 programming are provided by the association Lendroit éditions.
Production: Lendroit éditions in partnership with Art Norac, Self-Signal and the City of Rennes’ Participatory Budget program.
